The baby grey squirrel landed into my kitchen floor on August 16, 2019 Friday. Right after my birthday on August 15. Grace Sweetie brought him inside and left him at the kitchen floor for no reason. She did not kill him or injured him, just gently placed him on the floor. When I got up in the morning and saw the baby, I thought its one of those mice Grace brought inside again. Of course I was not wearing my glass then. While I was making coffee, I looked it carefully but this time with glass on, I realize it was not a mice, its squirrel pup. I then picked him up and examined whether it was injured or not. It was intact and breathing. It’s stomach was full and it was healthy. I never dealt with squirrel hence had no idea what to do with it. I started doing some google search and quickly realize it’s chance of surviving without its mother is pretty slim. The site I went has some great advise how to reunite a pup with mother and despite my repeated try, it failed. I then further read the site how to hand feed the pup which I understood was roughly 3-4 weeks old and its eyes weren’t even opened. I tried to feed him with diluted water, sugar and salt and it responded well for the first 24 hours. Its started to deteriorate due to lack of nutrients which only his mother can provide. I made few attempts to reunite it with her mother following instruction from the webs, again with no luck. In fact it was risky due to cats and other predator will simply kill it if I leave the pup outside for long time without me in distance watching and waiting for his mummy to come and pick him up. It never happened. I was started to feel sad cos there is nothing much I can do to help the pup. It spent little over 48 hours in my custody and it silently passed away at my palm while I tried to give him few last drop of water which it responded and then gently passes away. It was really sad and I was despondent and felt guilty. If there was squirrel rehabilitation center I sure would take him there but there were none. There were badger and hedgehog centers it clearly mentioned not to bring other wildlife hence not much point ringing them. Anyway, here are few video clips and pictures of that grey squirrel pup. He will be okay. I will remember him as long as I live for sure.

Grey Squirrel Pup

Because it was nice sunny day for a change, I got the chance to hang out with my sweeties. It was not only my sweeties, there were other cats that like spending their time around me, for no real reason. Often they are not seeking food or anything, they just like sitting by me. There is a cat, that often comes to me, again for no reason, other than his/her interest on me. I guess he realize I adore cats and he adores me for that. I do not know whose cat it is, but it is not well looked after. A good cat owner can detect that. He is tough cat and I think he has real tough time in the past. I named him Panther. He knows I call him Panther and he will run a mile to come and greet me. There is another cat, it belongs to the neighbor, it too likes spending time with me. It is however looked after by the neighbor yet it likes hanging out with me. Here are some of the pictures I have taken today. It was perfect day, sunny, warm and nice enough to sit outside and spend some quality time with my sweeties along with Panther.

Panther likes laying down when he sees me around.
